  • Nathan gets caught with his buddies stealing a McDONALD'S.
  • He goes to prison and gets 12 years in there while his buddies are only there for 8.
  • Nathan know recognizes that he should of listened to his mother when she told him not to go out because not everytime will he come out winning
  • Life is going tough on Nathan now and it is all because of his bad choices. He now knows that he should of sticked to doing the correct things like being better at school rather than being like all the other boys around his way
  • Nathan sees how life is tough, but as I predicted, it was too late. He knows that the people who stole or sole drugs were in worse conditions than him

  • In this chapter Nathan learns about all the things which could go wrong if he doesn't do ass supposed to.
  • Nathan see's that him and his buddy's dont have a lot of future and that they aren't going to be nowhere in life.
  • Nathan and his friends start to go around the white people so that they are able to steal more things than they would get from stealing from blacks since they are poor.
  • When Nathan gets a scare in a house when doing a B&E, him and Shell Shock stopped doing that and they then began to start stealing from the whites.
  • Nathan and most of the other teenagers from those times, got their influences and did the things that they did because of the rappers that they looked up to.

  • I am surprised that when Nathan's friends drop out of school, hes the better person and thinks about it and doesnt drop out with them
  • Nathan falls into doing worse things than before such as: B&E (break and entering), stealing peoples wallets etc.
  • Nathans mother starts suspecting that he is doing something bad when she starts noticing all these new clothes that he is getting. He tells her its his friends, when in reality is stolen.
  • Nathans friends no longer hang with him since they all went into their separate ways. Some went to the army and others joined the marines.
  • Nathan starts to recognize that everything that he is doing isnt correct and sees how him and his friends have no future.

  • This book is like a motif.
  • In these few chapters I have read, Nathan learns all about working and how it is that working for the white people really is.
  • When Nathan sees his buddys Bimbo and Tony shot, he thought about how dangerous it is being in the streets, and that one day he could be dead. But yet this doesnt stop him from living life like he does.
  • Nathan and his buddys would never stop the violence with the other gangs because it always goes back and forth.
  • This book shows how violence doesnt resolve anything.
